I sculpted this pillar based on Charles Dauphin's Magister Library concept. This project is for my mentorship at Sierra Division with Sarah Swenson. I really loved this piece, and it was really cool to sculpt this pillar in particular because I was able to create a trim that worked perfectly for this piece, as well as experimenting with radial symmetry in ZBrush. I aimed to sculpt this as close to 1:1 as possible based on Charles' concept art. I used Maya to create the initial block out, ensuring each piece fit perfectly with one another, and since this is part of a larger modular environment, I wanted to ensure each piece fit the radial ceiling kit. After I was happy with how the blockout fit perfectly with the larger environment, I then took it into ZBrush to sculpt. For this presentation, I rendered the pillar in Marmoset Toolbag. Thank you, Sarah, for the awesome feedback. I can't wait to finish the final piece.
