Rock Sculpt Study

These rocks were created using ZBrush and rendered in Marmoset. I learned a lot from Daniel Castillo's rock sculpt demo from Level Up Digital. Ivanna Liittschwager's sculpt demo, from Beyond Extent's channel, also really helped with how to approach sculpting rocks. I had the opportunity to receive amazing feedback from Ivanna, who guided and encouraged me to push the quality of my rock sculpts.

I used a combination of brushes from ZBrush's default library, some brushes from Dannie Carlone, and Daniel Castillo. I used a combination of brushes to get some nice silhouettes on my rocks, as well as to get some micro detail that would read greatly when getting RGB mask information. To make my blockouts, I sometimes will use Maya to create a simple base of how I want the rocks to look, while also being able to see the size next to human scale. Or sometimes I will add a human to ZBrush for scale reference, then start creating blockouts in ZBrush using Dynamesh, different brushes, and some trim tools to get some cool shapes that I see from my reference that I try to replicate.

All links will be listed below for anyone interested in checking these resources out. Thank you, Ivanna, for the awesome feedback.
