***OPEN TO WORK***Hi! My name is Gabby, and I'm an environment artist. I started my career back in 2021 in the film industry as a CG Generalist. Some TV shows I worked on were Westworld, She-Hulk, Fear the Walking Dead, The Diplomat, The Walking Dead World Beyond, and a few others. I had such an awesome time learning and creating. However, I always wanted to be in the game industry.
I originally started my education at the School of Visual Arts, which was more film-focused and in the city where I lived. Once I graduated and during my time at VFX studios, I took a few courses at CG Master Academy. This is where I had the opportunity to take classes to learn game workflows and Unreal Engine. The classes I took were Organic World Building for Games with Anthony Vacarro, Environment Art for Games with Peyton Varney, Unreal Engine Modular Environments with Clinton Crumpler, Vegetation and Plants for Games with Jarad Sabotta, The Art of Lighting for Games with Adriano Grasso, and Realtime VFX for Games with Josh Parker. All of these classes had a huge impact on my growth as an artist.
Eventually, after my first CGMA class, I started working in virtual production-based studios, where I worked on assets and environments, working primarily in Unreal Engine.
Throughout my career, I always made it a point to continue to learn and improve on my current skill set. This is where, over the years, I took the opportunity to be a part of a few mentorship programs. These mentorships helped me so much with pushing my skillset and helping me focus on some aspects of my portfolio that needed improvement.
Eventually, I took part in mentoring too! Women in Animation is the first organization that welcomed me to mentor senior students and recent graduates. Here is where I focused on sharing networking tips, learning resources for 3D artists, mock interviews, and more to help them kickstart their careers. After that, I then created a free mentorship on my own, choosing 10 artists who are 1-2 years post-graduation, specializing in environment art or prop art. This was such a cool experience. Thanks to the Substance 3D Team, I was able to get all mentees ( both from my WIA group and my own separate mentees) free Substance licenses for up to 1 year!
I am now currently taking a break from work and mentoring at the moment to focus on my own portfolio now.
