Fenrir's Cavern

Fenrir's Cavern is an environment I made during my mentorship course with Gabriel Cervantes at Sierra Division Academy. God of War Ragnarok was a huge inspiration for this piece, and the story of Fenrir's prophecy. I wanted to capture the scene of Fenrir's prison, with the golden chains signifying the "unbreakable" Gleipnir the gods used to restrain Fenrir from killing Odin. In the environment, I chose to add bits of symbolism to help guide the viewer; Ravens etched in stone, "Odin" etched in rune letters over the door, the banner with the raven, the wolf statues in the sides of the imprisonment, phases of the moon in the door's stone, and the oroborus detailing on the door, which shows the wolf and raven in a constant cycle ( Fenrir and the raven signifying Odin.) In the story, Fenrir escapes his prison, and I wanted to capture that with the door being slightly opened and the chains broken.

I wanted to create an organically modular environment, with some special standalone pieces. I used a combination of Maya, Substance 3D Painter, Substance 3D Designer, ZBrush, and Unreal Engine to create this piece. Everything in this piece was created by me, except for the fire, snow, and fog effects.
